Conflicting reports have come in from Pakistan with regard to three of their key players signing contract with the fledgling Indian Cricket League (ICL).
A report on Wednesday said top Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Imran Farhat have signed contracts with the parallel league for ‘’tempting amounts’’.
The News quoted sources as saying that the three Pakistani stars, who were not named in the Pakistani squad for next month’s Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, signed the contracts on Tuesday.
“The amount of the contract was tempting and it wasn’t possible for the cricketers to have a second thought,” the newspaper said, quoting sources.
Another report in The Dawn, however, quoted Razzaq as denying to have signed the ICL contract.
Yousuf and Razzaq have yet to sign Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) central contract. Reports said Razzaq, who criticised PCB for not selecting him for the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in September, was considering not signing the PCB central contract in protest.
Yousuf though had said he would sign the contract later this month even as the PCB deadline expires on Wednesday. Farhat’s case is different. He had already signed the PCB central contract.
