Sports School enter final

 Sports School, Kudige, blanked Bengal Military School 4-0, while Army School, MEG, edged Army School, ASC, 4-3 to enter the final of the GS Randhawa memorial inter-school hockey tournament at the KSHA stadium here on Wednesday.

In the first semifinal, Sports School shot into the lead with a 15th-minute goal from Anil. Karam swelled the tally in the 21st minute. Sadasivappa made it 3-0 six minutes later before Dhanraj completed the tally in the 46th-minute.

In the other semifinal, MEG, after being deadlocked 1-1 with ASC after regulation time, won via tie-breaker. Rahul found the target as early as the fifth minute of the game to put MEG ahead. Srikanth restored parity for ASC in the 25th-minute.

While Rahul, Sujith and Arun Kumar were on target for MEG in the tie-breaker. Nagalinga and Muthanna’s efforts were saved by ASC custodian Iyappa. For ASC, Chandan Aind and Chari converted while V Kumar, Cariappa and Maharaja failed in their attempts.

Stellar show
Meanwhile, Raghavendra scored five goals (5th, 18th, 19th, 56th, 59th) and Sushil scored four, including a hat-trick (8th, 12th, 15th, 36th), as Young Stars, Hubli, trounced Joyce Hockey Club 13-0 in the State ‘C’ Division hockey tournament.

Arjun (2nd), Krishna (25th), Raghunath (51st) and Balraj (54th) netted the other goals for the winners.
Later in the day, Young Stars returned to rout Aristrocat 9-0, Raghavendra continuing his goal glut by pumping in four more.

Royals Hockey Club: 6 (Srinivas 3, Adithya 15, 24, 28, Hariprasad 37, 42) bt Falcon Hockey Club: 1 (Anglo 44).  Young Stars, Hubli: 9 (U Sachin 3, 8, 33, Raghavendra 11, 26, 49, 59, Arjun 39, Rajesh 56) bt  Aristocrat : 0.
