Drunkard hacks wife to death
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Srinivasulu hacked his wife Padmavati to death at his residence on Gandhi Bazaar Main Road in Basavanagudi police limits on Wednesday night.

An alcoholic husband hacked his wife to death at his residence on Gandhi Bazaar Main Road in Basavanagudi police limits on Wednesday night, according to the police.

Padmavati (40) died on the spot due to multiple wounds while her 18-year-old daughter slipped and fell from the III floor parapet wall after witnessing the incident. She is battling for life in a private hospital.

The police said, Srinivasulu (45), was in the habit of pestering his wife for money to buy alcohol. Yesterday, when she refused to part with the money, he attacked her with a sickle. The accused is absconding.

The police feel that Srinivasulu might have also attacked or tried to threaten his daughter. She might have fallen while trying to escape.

In another incident, a housewife was killed by her husband in ISRO quarters in Indiranagar police limits.

Student killed

An eighth standard school boy was killed on the spot when he mowed down by a speeding mini bus near Kothanur in Mico Layout traffic police limits on Thursday evening. However when the driver tried to flee the scene the locals pelted stones and set fire to the vehicle.  The deceased has been identified as Peter (13), a student of Loyala school. The driver Varadaraj was arrested.

Woman ends life

Dejected over her husband’s drinking habits, a 20-year-old housewife committed suicide by hanging herself at her father's house in Kumbarpet in Cottonpet police station limits on Wednesday night. Gowri was married to Siddaraju, a book binder, last year and often complained to her parents and in-laws about her husband’s alcoholic habits, the police said.
