With 44 days left for his wedding, Venkataswamy cannot even grind his teeth in frustration and disappointment as he lost four teeth in the Turabarahalli clash on Thursday morning.

Lying in a ward in the seventh floor of Manipal Hospital, the constable of HAL police station is cursing his stars.
With tears in his eyes, the constable told Deccan Herald, “I cannot show my face to my fiancee (Geetha).

Look at my fate, on October 4, we are supposed to get married at the HBK Kalyana Mantap near Somapura Gate. I have requested my parents not to inform her about my hospitalisation. Though her father is also from the Police Department, I don't know how she will take this. I pray that my dentist fixes artificial teeth well in time,” hoped Venkataswamy. 

Writhing in pain, he said, “When we reached the place, the mob was not willing to listen to anything. As I was in plainclothes, they mistook me for a local and attacked me with lethal weapons. We were only four (one inspector, one ASI and two constables) against 300 of them. It was a miracle that I escaped and when once I fell unconscious they thought I was dead and went after others, so I was saved,” he added.
