There has been a tremendous flow of money in the wake of the development of IT and BT in the country.
However, there has been no increase in terms of production. Research in pure sciences and social sciences is stagnant in the country. If this continues then we would have to depend on other countries for science and technology, said legislator G V Sriramareddy.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Government Degree College, which will be started from this academic year onwards. A strength of a nation is determined by its development in the arena of education, science etc.
Only then can a nation achieve development in a comprehensive manner. However, those who are in the know how are themselves confused about the meaning of progress and development.
Progress is perceived as having more money at people’s dispense. Moreover, the various plans, projects and schemes of development are designed keeping in mind this top-down approach and lopsided perception of development.
However, though there has been an increase in the disposal of money in the country, the production is not that significant.
The people are unaware of the fact that the value of money has depreciated. There has been no efforts directed towards addressing the basic problems that are rampant in the country.
IT and BT have come to be thought as synonymous with higher education. The primary reason for this is the high pay and perks that accompany the IT, BT jobs. The scenario of education is deteriorating by the day, he explained.
Principal Prof Venkatashiva Reddy, Prof Nanjundappa, Prof G Sheshareddy were present.
