The foundation stone for the proposed Rangamandira will be laid on the day of Vijayadashami, said District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty.
Addressing a meet to discuss on Rangamandira, the long pending dream of the people of Dakshina Kannada district, he called upon the Zilla Panchayat Executive Engineers to expedite the process of getting the technical approval for the Rangamandira structural design from the Chief Executive Engineer and complete the tender process latest by Vijayadashami.
He also urged the MCC to clean up the site meant for the Rangamandira. MCC Administrator M Maheshwar Rao agreed to undertake cleaning process. Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishath President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura assured to put up two boards at the site.
Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao informed that the estimated cost of Rangamandira is Rs 15.5 crore.
MRPL has agreed to give Rs 5 crore for the purpose. The district administration already has Rs 1 crore, District Kannada Sahitya Parishath will give Rs 1 crore. Rs 3 crore will be sought from the government. Remaining amount will be raised through public donation, he added.
He also informed that MRPL has assured to maintain Rangamandira for five years. Zilla Panchayat CEO A M Kunjappa, District Kannada Sahitya Parishath President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Tulu Sahitya Academy President M K Seetharam Kulal among others were present.
