Codava National Council (CNC) will stage a Sathyagraha near Mahathma Gandhi’s statue at Cubbon Park in Bangalore on August 18 demanding for implementation of 370 and 371 column of Constitution pertaining to the formation of separate legislation for solving Jamma Bane land crisis.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, CNC Principal Secretary N U Nachappa said that the Jamma Bane crisis can be permanently solved only by forming a legislation and accordingly the sathyagraha for the same would be held from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm and then the participants will submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Governor.
Declaration of 45 traditional Kodava regions as ‘Kodava Autonomous Zone’, providing minority status to Kodava language and community and alotting reservations in education and employment sector and inclusion of Kodava language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution, making it an official language are some of the other demands to be kept forth. Office bearers of the organisation were present.
