New classroom for Empress college
Tumkur, DHNS:

The city’s Empress Government Girls PU college is doing yeoman service in the form of sthree shakti groups. This is the only government college in the district for girls and it can be called as the mother of all institutions, said district in-charge Minister C Chennigappa, here on Wednesday.

He was speaking after inaugurating the classroom built on the donation made by MLC Y A Narayanswamy from his local area fund at the oldest college in the Old Mysore area and said, the Government Empress school had retained its own character. The college has become a model for the whole State and it is laudable that Narayanswamy has become responsible for the construction of a classroom, he said.

MLC Narayanswamy said it was a milestone for all education institutions to have as its aim the development of education. He recalled the services of the great people in the field of education. Education field was unique when compared to all other fields, he added.

Principal G H Mahadevappa spoke about the drinking water problems, shortage of lecturers and the problems being faced by the students.
