Akhanda Bharat Jagriti Divas was celebrated by Bhagat Kranti Sene in the city on August 14. As a part of this a torch light procession was taken out from Dr Shivakumara Swami circle and a midnight meeting was also held.
The torch light procession passed through Ashokanagar Road, Dhobighat, S S Pura and ended at S S Circle.
Later at the meeting Sri Veerabhadra Shivacharya Swami who graced the occasion said, it was our duty to protect our independence which was got after the sacrifice of thousands of people.
Only if culture is preserved will the country survive, he added. Karnataka State Cow Protection unit chief Manjunath Swami said, we did not get independence just like that. It has been got due to the sacrifice of a lot of people.
But our youth have forgotten this point and also forgotten their duties and forgot about the national thinking which is highly regrettable, he said.
The youth have adopted the Westerners style of pleasure living. This is very dangerous for the nation. Our country was divided once along communal lines. As a result terrorism has increased. The reason for all this is the political leaders not identifying with the problem, he said.
