Carnatic concert
MES Kalavedi is organising a Carnatic concert on August 18 at 6:30 pm at the new conference hall, MES college in Malleshwaram.
There’ll be Manjula Surendra and Vani Yadhunadan on the Veena, V S Rajagopal on the Mrudangam and T N Ramesh on the Ghatam.

Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is organising a Carnatic-Hindustani Jugalbandi by Manasi Prasad (Carnatic) and Smita Bellur (Hindustani) at Purandara Bhavana, 8th Main Road behind Indiranagar on August 18 at 6 pm.
Music concert
Academy of Music is organising a music concert titled, “When melody meets rhythm: contemporary Indian and world music” on August 18 at 6 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.
The evening will begin with Carnatic jazz fusion, Megha, led by Suma Sudhindra and Gerard Machado (6 pm), Raga and Rhythm Ensemble of Dr Krishna Raghavendra (veena), Praveen Godkindi (Hindustani flute), M K Pranesh (Carnatic flute), Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma (mridangam, khanjira), Venugopalraju (tabla) (6.40 pm) and Laya Lahari Talavadya - percussion ensemble (7.50 pm).
Sitar recital
Hindustani Sangeeta Kalakara Mandali and Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs is organising the Muthu Bai Nagesh Rao Mane Memorial concert with a sitar recital by Jyothi Shyam accompanied by M S Kiran on the tabla on August 18 at 6 pm at Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, Near BMS Engineering collage, Bull Temple Road, N R Colony.
Folk song
Swarasurabhi is celebrating its second anniversary by felicitating Dr Vemgal Narayan Swamy followed by his concert of folk songs on August 19 at 6 pm at Nayana Sabhangana, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road.
Celebrations
Sree Guruvayurappan Bhajan Trust (SGBS) is organising music concerts as part of the 30th Gokulashtami celebrations from August 18 to 23. The concerts are at Odukkathur Swamigal Mutt, Gangadhara Chetty Road near Ulsoor Lake. The concert starts at 6 pm.
The performing artistes include T N Seshagopalan (Aug 21), Priya sisters (Aug 18), Sudha Raghunathan (Aug 19), T M Krishna (Aug 20), Sikkil C Gurucharan (Aug 22) and Mysore brothers (Aug 23).
Three-day festival
Prakasa Vimarsa is organising a three-day festival to felicitate Dr Sathyanarayana at Sevasadana in Malleswaram from August 17 to 19.
The cultural programmes will kick start with Sangita Kalanidhi’s ‘Karnatak music’ at 5.30 pm, followed by a ‘Yakshagana’ by Dharmangada Digvijaya Shalmala troup at 7 pm; on August 18 ‘Ashtavadhana’ by Shatavadhani Dr R Ganesh at 5 pm and Hindustani music by Vinayak Torvi and party at 7pm.
Sangeeta Sudha
Sri Rama Kala Vedika is organising ‘Sangeeta Sudha’, an evening of classical instrumental music featuring Tablo solo by Shri Aditya Kalyanpur followed by a sitar and sarod ‘jugalbandi’ by Prabir Bhattacharya and Subhabrata Chatterjee at Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Race Course Road at 6pm on 18 August.
Art exhibition
