Former DySP Amin, one of the 13 accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, surrendered before the Ahmedabad Sessions Court on Thursday. Additional Sessions Judge P P Bhatt sent Mr Amin to judicial custody until further orders. The anticipatory bail granted to Amin by the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court was cancelled by the Supreme Court on August 13.
The CID (crime) has accused Mr Amin of facilitating the stay of Kausar Bi at Ilol village in Sabarkantha district.
He has also been accused of helping the accused to dispose of her body. Amin had been transferred to Vadodara on July 13, following criticism by the Supreme Court. He had remained underground until he was granted bail and had been successful in evading police custody till date.
Amin complained against three CID officials claiming that they threatened his life. Mr Vanzara, a high profile officer and one of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s trusted officers, is believed to have been involved in several encounters, eliminating “terrorists.”
The court will hear Amin’s bail application on Friday.
