The Centre on Thursday night approved the Railway Ministry’s proposal to lay a new railway line connecting Rayadurg to Tumkur in Karnataka at a cost of Rs 887 crore. The decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) at its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The 213-km long Rayadurg Tumkur railway line is proposed to be completed by 2011-12, FM P Chidambaram told newspersons after the Cabinet meeting.
