Sobha Restoplus spring mattress
Sobha Developers Limited (SDL), one of India’s leading real estate developers of high quality homes and commercial space, has entered into retail space with the launch of Sobha Restoplus.
The product would be manufactured in-house, at the Company’s 3,60,000 sq ft unit located in Bangalore. The production unit has a capacity of manufacturing 200 units of spring mattresses per day.
In the first phase of the project, Sobha Restoplus will be launched in Kerala and Karnataka. The product is priced at a minimum of Rs 10,000 for a single bed and Rs 15,000 for double bed. The mattresses are available in 30 variants depending on five different kinds of springs, thickness and textures used.
London Olympics project
Judging is set to commence in the United Kingdom to appoint a panel of architects to design the Athletes Village for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The initial call for architects from the organising Lend Lease consortium and the Architecture Foundation yielded 434 submissions from around the world. The majority came from the UK, with countries such as France, Australia, Japan and the United States also strongly represented.
“The response from the international architectural community has been absolutely overwhelming,” said Lend Lease Europe chairman Nigel Hugill.
“Our intention is to assemble a panel that combines youth and experience, practises large and small. We are now well and truly on track to achieve this – and from there to create an Athletes Village that sets new standards for the Games and delivers on the long-term needs of the east London community,” he told the London Press Service.
Rowan Moore, Director of the Architecture Foundation, added, “The Athletes Village will bring exceptional new architecture to the design of large-scale residential neighbourhoods, something which is still too rare in Britain.” After working through the 434 submissions from architects, the 10-strong judging panel is to select a panel of about 40 practices. Selected practices will then compete for commissions to design individual elements of the new high-density residential district— a project with an estimated value of 2 billion pounds sterling that involves the development of approximately 4,200 residential dwellings and related accommodation.
Commissions will vary from individual buildings and pavilions to much larger projects. The first commissions are expected to be announced in September 2007.
