A mob beat up a private school teacher alleging that he had tried to molest sixth standard student in Udayagiri here on Thursday.
The mob later handed over Devannegowda (45), a physical education teacher at Vidya Shankara Education Institution in SBM Colony, to the police. The police have registered a case.
Lure
The teacher allegedly had promised the girl that he would get her first class if she “cooperated” with him. The girl had gone to the school to bring the national flag down before nightfall on Independence day.
The teacher had threatened the victim and her sister, who had allegedly seen the teacher molesting the girl, with dire consequences if the issue was disclosed to others.
