City police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in the jewellery heist, wherein a gang of six unidentified persons made away with 36 kgs of gold, diamond, silver and Rs 3.5 lakh hard cash, all valued at Rs 4.5 crore, from Chemmanur Jewellry Private Limited on August 11.
“It is a big challenge for the City police. So far, there has been no major breakthrough. We have intensified the search operation. It may take some more time before we come up with concrete evidences,” Bangalore City Commissioner of Police N Achutha Rao said.
In touch
Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Friday, Mr Rao disclosed that the City police were in touch with their counterparts in Maharashtra, New Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
“We have spoken to our counterparts in those States, as similar incidents have taken place there, some years back. Mangalore police are in touch with us as a similar heist was reported in Bantwal a few months back. We are trying to ascertain whether those involved in such heists have any links with Chemmanur heist case,” he added.
He said, it was early to conclude if the heist was carried out by an inter-state gang. But the police do not rule out the involvement of an inter-state gang.
Kidney racket
On kidney racket, he said that the case was just transferred to Yelahanka police and handed over to CCB. The police will soon begin investigation, he added.
