Two killed in mishaps

Two persons were killed in separate road mishaps in the city on Thursday.

According to the police, Chandra (51), a resident of Hongesandra, was trying to cross the road in front of Manasa Nursing Home in Garvebhavipalya when he was knocked down by a car. The car driver immediately admitted him to NIMHANS and absconded.

Chandru succumbed to injuries. In another accident in Hulimavu traffic police limits, 13-year-old Peter was killed when a private bus knocked him down at B K Circle. The victim was trying to cross the road when the mishap occurred.

Conductor dies

A KSRTC bus conductor died of a massive heart attack while on duty on Friday morning. Siddalingappa, a resident of Somanahalli in Nelamangala taluk, was on duty in the bus, which was coming to City from Kanakapura.

Siddalingappa complained of severe chest pain when the bus approached Doddakallasandra gate and died before being admitted to Victoria Hospital, said the police.

Prostitution

Seshadripuram police arrested seven persons on charges of prostitution on Thursday night and recovered one bike, two mobiles and Rs 2,400 cash.

The accused have been identified as Suman (20), Beauty (20), Sapna (20), residents of Mumbai,  Mohan (52), Ajay (23), Santosh (24) and Nanjundappa (60) from Bangalore. Harinath, the owner of the lodge, is absconding.

Fake goods

Fraud and Misappropriation squad of City Crime Branch arrested one person on charges of selling fake electronic gadgets and recovered 900 fake CDs worth Rs one lakh. Acting on a tip off, the police had raided Sri Sai Enterprises.

Seven held

Central police arrested seven persons on charges of theft and recovered five tonnes of aluminium conductor wires worth Rs 12.46 lakh, a car and an auto rickshaw.
