This season’s the time to get bold and adventurous with colours. Blues, browns, reds and even green seems to be hot sellers. Taking off from the Fashion Week, Lakme has introduced to the City, the colours and styles for the season. And presenting this was the Lakme team holding a session on hairstyling and make-up organised at Garuda Mall recently.
“We believe that everyone can look like a model and we organise such events to give people a peek into what’s new and trendy,” says Kala Roy, Regional Skin Trainer, South for Lakme in India, who adds that every individial has a basic structure that can be worked around with make-up and hair styling to look absolutely fabulous.
Make-overs
At a temporary salon set up at the main atrium, the team invited weekend shoppers at the mall to get a feel of what they called Cool Colours, hot styles.
And people thronged the session keeping the team on their toes. From children as young as four years to adults spanning 20 to 40 years, all of them walked away with a new look.
Along with the various skin and hair care services the salon provides, they throw in a few tips on grooming and ways of easy maintenance for clients.
“It’s not possible for people to come to a salon everyday, so we help our clients by sharing with them a few easy ways in which one can look good everyday... a few quick-fix tips for work maybe will prove vital to add to today’s busy working conditions,” says Kala Roy, who says the salon keeps upgrading their stylists with what’s new through regular training programmes so that they can keep abreast with changing trends.
In vogue
But what’s in vogue is not what is necessarily to be followed. Shailesh M, Senior Consultant for Lakme, says trend is a basis on which a particular style can be worked around.
“Internationally, short styles and heavy curls are in. But in India, poker straight and layers are what goes best because a lot of Indian women have long and wavy hair. So we can pick from the international trend and adapt it to suit the styles here.”
With regard to make-up, Kala says, greens and copper browns make for great colours for the eyes. “But blue is still the most sought after colour and is amazing for our skin tone. Red is yet another colour that is on but for those who prefer being subtle with make-up, pinks and purples continue to be popular.”
As for the hair, Shailesh feels colours that suit the Indian skin tone is what must be used. “I avoid blonde and colours that are too loud for our complexions. Brown, burgundy, blue, caramel and even purple goes great for the dusky complexion in India.”
