Cholera at Masiyammanahatti, Nittur hobli, is under control, the Health Department has taken precautionary measures, public need not panic, assured district Health Officer Dr Aravindappa.
Speaking to Deccan Herald after surveying Masiyannanahatti, he said, priority has been given to supplying safe drinking water and is being supplied through tankers.
All water tanks are being washed with super chlorination. A mobile medical unit has been established and necessary medication and help has been provided, he said.
Cholera was reported at Masiyammanahatti with a population of 250 after a water pipe broke and water was contaminated. On Aug 7, 48 cases of cholera was reported and two persons had died.
Currently 9 persons are under treatment at the hospital.
