Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said that he has no doubt about the transfer of power in Karnataka.
He refused to discuss the issue and said that “there’s an agreement (on the transfer of power) and it is their dharma to honour it. The JD (S)-BJP coalition is doing a good work and there’s absolutely no need for an intervention,” said Mr Naidu while speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Saturday.
When asked to comment on the recent controversy in which Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said he would hand over the baton to BJP before the October 3 deadline, Mr Naidu said whatever has to happen will happen as per the agreement. “We have no doubt about the JD (S) intention,” he said.
Taking exception at Opposition Congress leader N Dharam Singh's statement on Friday that anything can happen after October 3, including the Congress' return to power or President's rule in Karnataka, Mr Naidu said, Mr Dharam Singh’s statement smacked of "high arrogance and hunger for power.”
“They don’t have a majority. Here’s a government, which is doing work and is popular. Is he saying all this to boost his party morale? This is the language and mindset of the Congress. If they play dirty tricks, they will not succeed," he said adding that before talking about other party MLAs, the Congress party should take care of their own MLAs. Replying to a question on who would be the next CM once the BJP comes to power, Mr Naidu said it would be a political decision.
“Mr Yediyurappa is a good man; he is doing his job sincerely. He is the leader chosen by everybody, the present and the past party presidents,” said Mr Naidu.
