The government hospital at Shira has been upgraded from 50 beds to 100 beds. However the services are not upgraded and the public are put to hardships complain the people.
Even after the upgradation, the number of staff and medical services available has not improved. There are general practitioners appointed but there are no surgeons or anaesthetist to handle emergencies, accept hospital sources. The number of doctors sanctioned and needed is 13 but only 7 are appointed. Of them one is on deputation. In the place of 13 nurses required, only 3 nurses are appointed.
The two health inspectors appointed here have been deputed to town municipality.
Patients who come here are facing acute problems, the release said.
Rs 12 lakh medicines
After the hospital was upgraded medicines worth Rs 12 lakh per annum is being supplied. However, the patients are asked to get medicines from private drug shops. The hospital leaks even for light rains.
Eye operation, vasectomy, tubectomy are not being conducted here. The number of in -patients has come down to almost nil.
The government sanctioned Rs 25 lakh for the construction of a trauma centre.
However the civil works is limping at snail’s speed, despite the State government sactioning Rs 2 crore. .
Legislator B Satyanarayana has appealed to the government to take immediate action to help the patients.
