Foundation stone for PG centre on Aug 24

The  foundation stone for the PG centre in Kolar which is affiliated to Bangalore University will be laid on August 24 by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, said Bangalore University Chancellor Professor Ranganath at a press Conference on Sunday.
As many as 30 acres of land has been purchased for the purpose at Mangasandra in Kolar-Malur road at an estimated cost of Rs 10.85 crore for building the complex, he said.
At the first stage, administrative building for the departments of Botany, Kannada, M Com, and Political Science, classrooms, laboratories, staff rooms, computer laboratories, seminar halls, lavatories will be built and will be completed by the next academic year, he said.
Permission granted
Permission has been granted from the development and syndicate committees for the estimated list of building construction, the Chancellor added.
PG centre in Kolar is affiliated to Bangalore University which was formed in 1965.
‘Though the PG centre has been in existence in the district since 1995, which has departments of Botany, Kannada, Commerce, and Political Science, due to rented building the students were facing difficulties which I learnt when I last visited the centre before six months and hence decided to have its own building’, Professor Ranganath said.
He requested the students, teaching faculty of all colleges to attend the programme. Extension Officer Somashekhar, Syndicate members Ranganath, Dr Purnima, Director of PG Centre Dr R P Nanjunde Gowda were present.
