Indo-US nuke deal: shocking innuendos
Sir, The Indo-US nuclear deal is getting lost in a lot of emotional blackmail between the various parties and their main players. The tactical posturing is leaving the details on the Agreement to be overlooked for discussion, which could be a deliberate strategy by the Congress to avoid a debate on the matter.
The innuendo used by the various senior leaders of the Congress with regard to the Agreement is shocking. Like we retain the sovereign right to test a nuclear device, but then the US also in that event retains the option to terminate the agreement and to take back all equipment etc.
In the event this happens then who is going to bear the cost that India would have incurred on putting all the infrastructure in place for the nuclear reactors and the lost time to recast our nuclear program. It is better to go with our own home-brew design for nuclear power than to aim at the sky and fall flat on our face.

They need the cake
Sir, The Leftists want to have the cake and eat it too. They do not want to lose the advantages of back-seat driving and their assertion “Honeymoon over, but marriage is on” simply exemplifies the dilemma of their cosy relationship with UPA as they understand very well that if they withdraw their outside support, the government would naturally fall leading to the inevitable mid-term polls to the Lok Sabha. They are also sure that they may not get the same number of seats they have now and would be reduced to next to nothing having absolutely no say in the day-to-day running of the government!

TIme for mid polls?
Sir, No one understands better than the Congress about the unpredictability of outside support – having withdrawn such backing to topple governments when it suited. Outside props always come at much higher price than the direct participation and should never be taken for granted.
Secular glue at best can only give opportunist bonding and normally comes apart at the smallest fissure. However the way protests on the 123 agreement are being orchestrated; there seem to be a much bigger game plans in the offing. Are mid-term elections round the corner ?

Prepare for polls
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not yield to Left’s pressure and go ahead with the US Nuclear deal.Definitely, the Left is opposing the deal just because it is from US. Had the deal been with China or Russia it's behaviour would have been quite opposite. They would have pressurised the government to implement the deal as early as possible.
The Left is not really interested in national growth and welfare but only in appeasing it's foreign Communist masters. The Left should not be given too much importance which is a big nuisance for the country's progressive policies. Dr Singh and his party should rather be prepared for facing the people instead of tolerating an arrogant and irresponsible political outfit like the Left.
