There seems to be a major breakthrough in the Chemmanur Jewellers robbery case.
Late on Monday, Mangalore police arrested Umesh Shetty in connection with the jewellery case.
The accused has confessed to his involvement along with 10 others.
Sources said Umesh was picked up in connection with the murder of developer Subba Reddy. During interrogation, he admitted to his involvement in the jewellery theft.
Police confiscated 2 kg of gold from him.
Kingpin at large
The prime accused in the jewellery case is also wanted in connection with a murder case in Hyderabad.
According to Umesh, along with him, around eight persons from Dakshina Kannada, two persons from Kerala and Sringeri were involved in plotting the Chemmanur robbery.
On August 11, around 10:45 am, a well-dressed gang entered the Chemmanur Jewellers outlet on Kammanahalli Main Road, threatened the employees at gun-point and made away with gold worth Rs 3.6 crore and Rs 3 lakh in cash.
Bangalore East DCP, who is heading the investigation was tightlipped about the case.
