According to Umesh, along with him, around eight persons from Dakshina Kannada, two persons from Kerala and Sringeri were involved in plotting the Chemmanur robbery.
On August 11, around 10:45 am, a well-dressed gang entered the Chemmanur Jewellers outlet on Kammanahalli Main Road, threatened the employees at gun-point and made away with gold worth Rs 3.6 crore and Rs 3 lakh in cash.
