Bosch’s Indian CR injector
Bosch on Wednesday announced the roll out of the first common rail injector at its Nashik facility. This rollout follows the previous announcement by Bosch to invest Rs 1800 crore in India between 2005-2008. A major part of this investment has been committed to the common rail development in India.
Bosch has been manufacturing injector components for common rail in Nashik since 2006 and is ready to start commercial production of complete rail injectors for both domestic and export markets. Initially it will roll out one lakh injectors in 2007, which will touch 3.5 million in 2010.
TeamLease can set up PF Trust
TeamLease Services announced on Wednesday that the Dept of Labour and Employment under the aegis of Ministry of Labour has granted them permission to run an independent PF Trust for it’s employees. While the corpus of the PF fund will be between Rs 80 cr to Rs 100 cr, close to 1.5 lakh employee records will be transferred in from the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner’s office at Bangalore. Fund management will be done by India-Life Capital.
HPCL posts net loss of Rs 87 cr
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) announced a net loss of Rs 86.93 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as against its net loss for the quarter ended June 30, 2006, at Rs 607.67 crore. HPCL’s income increased to Rs 22,216.79 cr from Rs 20, 777.06 cr for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
HSBC launches dynamic fund
HSBC Investments on Wednesday in Mumbai announced the launch of a multi-cap fund, HSBC Dynamic Fund (HDF). The new fund offer (NFO) period will be between August 3 to August 30’ 2007. The bank said with a flexibility to move 100 per cent of its assets into money market instruments, the fund seeks to aggressively capture growth in the bullish equity markets and has the flexibility to invest across sectors or themes with no market capitalisation base.
BEL turnover dips in Q1
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday reported a lower turnover of Rs 470 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal as against Rs 511.39 crore it earned during the same quarter in 2006-07. The net profit had declined to Rs 26.30 crore in Q1 of 2007-08 from Rs 60.27 crore during Q1 of previous fiscal, the company said in Bangalore.
Citi Bank & Jet offer new cards
Citibank and Jet Airways announced on Tuesday the launch of the super-premium Jet Airways Citibank Platinum Card and the Jet Airways CitiBusiness Card. The Platinum Card offers rewards of four JPMiles for every Rs 100 spent, allowing the member to maximise JPMiles accrual while spending across categories, be it shopping for groceries or whilst dining at a restaurant. The JPMiles thus accrued can be redeemed for free flights or upgrades.
ISA’s Techvision Awards 2007
The first Technovation Awards 2007, a joint initiative of the India Semiconductor Association (ISA), & the VLSI Society of India (VSI), were announced in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Prof. Krishna Saraswat, Stanford University, USA was awarded the ISA TechnoVisionary Award, the lifetime achievement award. Prof. Jagadish Kumar, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi was awarded the ISA-VSI TechnoMentor Award for being an academic of extraordinary mentoring & research abilities.
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras & Indian Institute of Technology, Karagpur were joint recipients of the ISA-VSI TechnoShield Award. The ISA-VSI TechnoShield Award is recognition for academic institutions in India for their contribution in semiconductor research.
Nokia, Shristi in studio alliance
Nokia, on Tuesday, announced opening of its first satellite design studio in Bangalore, in alliance with Shristi School of Art, Design & Technology, reports DHNS from Bangalore.
The two-year partnership between Nokia and Shristi will see a team of Nokia designers and Shristi alumni, engage in research of design trends and themes, including colour and material trends in India, for introduction of new features and uses for Nokia mobiles.
The satellite studio, drawing on the experience of India’s dynamic market, will work on developing new design ideas and trends for both India and the global markets, according to Nokia Design Head (Insight & Innovation) Hannu Nieminen. Nokia has similar satellite studios in London, Helinski, US, Beijing and Tokyo.
Berger to open Pune plant
Berger Paints India Ltd, plans to commission its Rs 50 crore automotive paints plant at Pune in 2008, reports DHNS from Kolkata.
The Pune plant will have a capacity to manufacture 800 kilo litres per month. Berger, which presently enjoyes a marketshare of 20 per cent in the decorative segment and 12 per cent in the automotive segment, hopes to increase the pie after commissioning of the plant, Mr Bose said after the company’s annual general meeting here on Tuesday. According to company chairman Mr K S Dhingra, the company has been looking for overseas acquisitions also.
