Press should contribute to progress of the society, says Journalist

Press should act as a bridge between the people and the government and contribute to the progress of the society, said V N Subba Rao, president of Media Academy.

He was speaking at the celebration of press day by Taluk Journalists Association at M N K community hall in Madhugiri. He also called the readers not to encourage yellow journalism for the development of a healthy society.

The press should uphold values and contribute to its overall  development, said Sri Atavi Shivalinga Mahaswami of Atavi Jangama Sukshetra who inaugurated the function.  He also expressed his concern over decline of indian culture among the youth as there have been no lessons of introduction to our rich heritage at schools.

Senior Journalist S K Sheshadri delivered a lecture on ‘Media and rural Journalism’.

Taluk journalists association president Bandichowdaiah, district journalists’ association president K V Chandramouli, Chief Secretary G Indrakumar, State Youth Congress Chief Secretary Bapu Vinodkumar, Taluk youth congress president Parashuram, Rotary district former governor H K V Reddy, Rotary club president P C Krishna Reddy, Town municipality former president D G Shankaranarayana Shetty, Taluk panchayat president K Mahalingaaiah were present.

Also present were  Tumkur Milk Union director B Nagesh Babu, DCC bank director Kondavadi Chandrashekhar, Industrialist S Nagabhushan, Police circle inspector Hanumantha Reddy, BEO Hanumantharaya, B R C Mahesh.
Somashekhar welcomed while Narayana Raju compere. M N Bhushan proposed vote of thanks.

Senior assistant director of Information department R Saraswathi, teacher Bayyappa Reddy, Litterateur Ma. La. Na. Murthy,  film producer Muralidhar Halappa, Social worker Basava Raju, Journalists K Subba Rao, H G Venkatesha Murthy, Shivakumar, D Sakel, G R Prathap Rudra, Ananth Ramu  were felicitated during the occasion.
Meritorious SSLC toppers were given Prathibha Puraskars during the occasion.

Bapu Vinodkumar chief Secretary of State Youth Congress felicitated the taluk journalists in the programme.
