India Serves Notice On Karachi, WB
New Delhi, Aug 1.
Minister for Irrigation and Power S K Patil disclosed in the Lok Sabha today that India had informed the World Bank and Pakistan that she could not wait for more than five years from now for utilising the waters of the three eastern rivers in Punjab for her own use in the Shrihind and Rajasthan canals, which have been taken up for construction.
Mr Patil recalled that the five year period originally fixed by the World Bank would expire in 1959.
LS To Discuss Firing On Sweepers
New Delhi, Aug 1.
Mr Ananthasayanam Ayyangar, Speaker, said today he would allow a discussion on Saturday for yesterday’s police firing on New Delhi sweepers in which one person was killed and two injured. He asked Government to be in possession of facts by that time.

One Killed In City Police Firing

Bangalore, Aug 1.

One person was killed and several others injured when police fired to quelt a riotous mob which attacked the Shankarapuram police station here, this afternoon. The incident occurred when a 10,000 strong procession led by matinee idol Dr Rajkumar was diverted at the Minerva Circle by police. The victim was Arasappa (41), resident of Guttahalli.
