The jewellery exhibition by designers Rachna and Anju Mehra from Delhi at the RainTree smacks of elegance and sobriety. The glossy stones carved into contemporary designs is awesome.
Qualified in diamond grading from the gemology institute in Delhi, and worked with diamond merchants, before starting Ample Enterprises several years ago, Rachna has had several private shows in the UK and USA. This is her first show in the City.
This self taught designer says she likes mixing traditional and ethnic stones with diamonds.
“Each piece is hand made, bearing in mind its durability, affordability, and I make sure every piece smacks of a strong individuality.”
The exhibition has a neat spread of emeralds, garnets, blue sapphires, citrine, pink tourmaline, and pearls, set in 18 carat gold, the sparkle of the diamonds, the mellow hues of the stones fusing, the jewellery experiments with cuts of the stones and the forms and designs give the pieces a trendy look.
Sparkling diamonds set with blue sapphires on the earrings which conform to the Art Neuva designs, the weave of diamonds ending in a pear shaped sapphire, a paisley filigree earring, set with topaz and diamonds all smack of dynamism.
The spirit is kept burning through the combinations of pearls and diamonds, tourmaline and citrine, breathing new life into the lifeless.
Finesse and craftsmanship comes through well in each piece of jewellery.
There’s jewellery for every occasion whether a date, business meeting, wedding or just a casual outing. The pieces are well crafted with a careful blend of tradition and modern.
The exhibition is on at the RainTree, opposite the Windsor Sheraton on August 2 and 3.
