Double celebration
Inox, the multiplex in Garuda Mall turns two this August 5. In a run-up to the big day, the multiplex has lined up several activities. “It has been two amazing years and the team would like to thank its patrons for their continued support all through the two years. We have kept our patrons at the centre of all our activities and ensured that our service, choice of films and ambience revolves around the expectations of our discerning audience,” Mohit Bhargava, Regional General Manager, Inox Leisure Ltd., was quoted as saying in a press release.
Everyday, for the rest of the week, the multiplex plans on giving out various goodies to all those who walk in to watch a movie. For kids, who have just finished their exams, the multiplex will be hosting a special premiere of the movie ‘Surf’s Up’ on Thursday at 6 pm.
There will a kid’s party preceding the movie that will give kids an opportunity to get tattoos done along with being entertained by a mimicry artist and a chance to go home with loads of presents.
Inox will have a host of celebrations on the weekend when every patron will be given special importance in various ‘zones’ — for kids, men and women — created at the multiplex. The kids’ zone will have several games and fun stalls lined up. While the men’s corner will have a zone to test muscle power and skills, the women will be given special makeovers and beauty tips by experts.
On the D-Day, patrons will be included in the grand celebration with bumper prizes for lucky winners. For details on a host of events and prizes, walk into Inox.
Science fest
Deeksha Centre for Learning is conducting an annual science festival on August 3 and 4. Titled ‘I-Cube’ that stands for Imagine, Innovate and Integrate, the entire event is conceptualised and managed by the students.
This, according to the students, is not a run-of-the-mill quiz that tests the memory of individuals but more a way of testing the capacity of students to apply their scientific knowledge to everyday situations.
At the competition, students have to build gadgets, find solutions and innovate in a given frame of time. Since there is no elimination rounds, students get to participate in all rounds of the quiz. On August 3, students from government schools will also be encouraged to participate, providing them with an opportunity to display their skills and talent.
The quiz has three rounds — imagine, innovate and integrate. Imagine is about testing a student’s creativity and ability to think outside the box; Innovate is about students’ ability to work with their hands and to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical situation and Integrate is about building and creating working models based on given parameters.
The aim of the competition is to make students think spontaneously and test their ability to work as a team. Each school is required to send six participants for the three rounds.
The Science fest is at Deeksha, 31/1, Vajramuneshwara Temple Road, Talaghattapura, Kanakapura Main Road. Ph: 28425463.
