Popularity doesn't matter
The law of the land is supreme and no amount of popularity in films would help.

Can a Bollywood star in spite of having links with dreaded terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim, Abu Salem, Chota Shakeel and others be excused just because he acted as Munnabhai in a film?.If a murderer, a cheat, a rapist and a terrorist acts as Mahatma Gandhi in a film, can he be let off by a court?

The law of the land is supreme and no amount of popularity in films would help .A judge does not decide a case by the popularity of a person. He is only concerned about his crime. All the certificates by Dileep Kumar and other erstwhile super stars of Bollywood were worthless when crime had been established in the case of Sanjay.
"
Some people argue that Sanjay was innocent when he received deadly weapons from Abu Salem gang. It was for his self-protection. If it was for self-protection then why did Sanjay get the AK-56 rifle destroyed?.

I am of the opinion that Sanjay in advance knew about he grave impending danger to Mumbai through his terrorist friends but he did not disclose this danger to the police. So he deserves punishment.

Let not the media try to generate sympathy for a man who was in league with anti-nationals and terroists. Such tactics by some sections of the media will not help.
