Shanmukhappa was addressing at the launch of centenary celebrations of World Scouting on Wednesday morning at the Shikshakara Sadan. Shanmukhappa said several students from poor family fail to join the Bharat Scouts and Guides because they don’t have money to even buy uniforms.
“Each dress costs around Rs 400 and if the government spends around Rs 2 crore, 40,000 students may join the Scouts and Guides in future,” he said.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti said the government will provide all support to the Scouts and Guides.
He said merely joining Bharat Scouts and Guides is not enough as children are expected to lead a disciplined life, which will guide them in future.
Former chief minister and the State President of Bharat Scouts and Guides N Dharam Singh called upon the Scouts and Guides to be good citizens.
Cultural programmes were held to mark the celebrations.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was also to participate but he could not arrive. Mr Horatti read out his message.
Sources said, he was preparing today for some questions at Vidhana Soudha.
