IN BANGALORE ON FRIDAY
PM, Pawar to review farm scenario in State
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is arriving here on Friday, will focus on reviewing the agriculture scenario in Karnataka and special relief package announced by him for six districts on the Vidarbha model.

According to reliable sources in the government, as per the itinerary , the Prime Minister is arriving at 11.45 am and directly proceed to Ambedkar Bhavan where he will address a Congress workers meeting. In the afternoon he is scheduled to review agricultural scenario for 3 hours.
Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia  and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar are expected to be present during the review programme.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who is also accompanying the Prime Minister, will review the infrastructure development, the sources added.
Sources pointed out the new agriculture policy formulated by the State, which is in tune with the National Development Council (NDC) resolution, has drawn nation-wide attention. This is because eminent scientist Dr M S Swaminathan took active interest in formulating the policy.  The other reason being that the policy is said to be more “pragmatic” as it has been formulated taking the views and suggestions of farmers, NGOs and other stake-holders into consideration.
