Procurement policy
Centre rolls out defence plan  
Aiming at quick yet transparent military procurement, the Centre on Friday came out with a new defence procurement procedure, which promises to make the entire process of field trials more open and objective. The new procedure will be applicable to deals approved after September 1.
Manmohan, Rajapakse discuss fishermen issue  
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday raised the issue of Indian fishermen allegedly being attacked by the Sri Lankan navy in the Palk Strait when he called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse ahead of the SAARC summit.
Surjeet's cremation on Sunday  
It would be brought to the A K Gopalan Bhavan, the CPM headquarters, later and kept there till 2.30 pm on Sunday. The cremation will take place at the Lodi Road electric crematorium on Sunday afternoon.
