PM asks Pakistan to end terrorist activities
"We would like to see the implementation in letter and spirit of commitments made to bring to an end terrorist activities originating in Pakistan," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said.

With tight visa procedures, inflated hotel prices that have kept tourists away, restrictions on car travel, some are wondering if Beijing will be able to recreate the party atmosphere of Sydney and Athens. But authorities in Beijing have warned of an unprecedented terror threat to the Olympics, particuarly from its Muslim Xinjiang region, and have made no apologies for putting security of athletes and tourists as their top priority.

The Russian withdrew from the WTA Rogers Cup in Montreal on Wednesday after a marathon second-round win over Marta Domachowska, and a scan revealed two small tears in her right shoulder.

The Australian, an IOC member for 31 years and chairman of the IOC press commission, said he believed China had reached "an understanding" with Olympic officials that allowed censorship for foreign press covering the Beijing Games.
