An erstwhile champion in 'Dahi Handi' ritual, who used his skills to rob cell phone shops in city and his associate were arrested by Chickpet police.
The police recovered more than Rs 5 lakh worth mobile phones from Vinod Singh (42), and his associate Deepak Singh (22).
Dahi Handi is played during Krishna Janmastami where an earthen pot, containing a mixture of milk, dry fruits, ghee is hung 20-30 feet high in the air.

He first identified the mobile shops before carrying out the operation. Deepak used to wait outside.
Following several complaints, Chickpet police swung into action and arrested the duo, who hail from Gorakhpur.
The accused had come to Bangalore in search of job and undertook carpentry, painting, polishing and interior decoration work. Vinod Singh was on bail in a similar case.
