SUB-DIVISION TO BECOME DISTRICT
Dust and waste dirties Chickballapur City

On August 23, Chickballapur sub-division would be declared a district. This would be a great day in the anals of history, but alas, despite being announced as a district, the dirt and garbage only makes it look like huge slum.
Most of the important places in the City are not cleanly maintained. Apart from this, even the extension areas, parks, important roads, etc have been converted into garbage bins.
Infact, the T Chennaiah park located in the heart of the City beside the National Highway has turned itself into a huge garbage pit. Most of the hotels and bakeries have also contributed for the dirt here. These eateries are located in the surrounding areas of the park and they have found it convenient to dump the waste from these joints in the park.
Rotting vegetables, stale food and other hotel waste is dumped here, which is often sought after by animals including, dogs and buffaloes. Unfortunately, the park is located just beside the National Highway, making the travellers have an impression that Chickaballapur City was nothing but a huge garbage bin.
Worse in monsoon
The scenario is even worse during the monsoon. The stench emanating from this area coupled with rainwater has left the public finding it difficult to cross this area. Bending to the pressures of the public, the City Municipal Council employees h ave cleaned up the entire mess. And yet again, it turns into a garbage bin, as soon as the dirt is lifted from this place. It’s the same story near the old bus stand, where a public toilet has been located in front of it. And the list of places, which have been dirtied goes on and on, including, the surrounding areas of the General Post Office, the front portion of the Pre-University College, Market place, Sir M V  Circle, M G Road, the front portion of the Panchagiri College and Convent School and also several other places, which have been converted into garbage bins.
Since, there are no proper garbage bins installed at all these important places, the waste automatically is thrown around. And this waster is further blown to the roads and other areas.
It was upto the City Municipal Council to take stringent measures to keep the City clean. It should issue warnings to the eateries to throw waste in the respective bins. The public also should be warned to keep the premises clean.
Hand carts and push carts should be utilised for clearing the bins. The waste should be carried in the tractors and dumped at a proper place. It was the duty and responsibility of each and every person to keep his City clean, and also extend co-operation to the City Municipal Council, towards all its measures implemented in the City to maintain the general health and hygiene.
