The Mysore Round Table-21 held the ‘Charter Day,’ to mark its 36th anniversary celebrations on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Area Chairman LMF Ashwini Kumar highlighted the table’s long term project ‘Freedom through Education.’
“The table aims at creating school infrastructure, mostly in rural areas, to enable children to access education. We have constructed 70 classrooms at a cost of Rs 1.10 crore, in government schools located in and around Mysore, including those in village located around KRS, Chamundi Hills, Jettihundi, Maddur and Bogadi,” he said.
The Round Table India aims at educating one million children, by providing infrastructure by 2008. As of now 1000 schools have been built, he added.
While the facility has been extended to 10 schools in Bangalore, in the first phase the same will be extended to three schools in Mysore. The project will involve an expenditure of Rs 1.5 lakh per school, Mr Kumar added.
