MYSORE BRIEFS

Rasta roko
The Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore and farmers of Chamalapura have decided to block Bangalore-Mysore State highway on August 22 at 11 am to protest the proposed coal-based thermal power project at Chamalapura in Mysore district.
Dance drama
Vidwan K Guruprasad is presenting ‘Naaripancharatna,’ a dance drama on August 25 at Jaganmohan Palace at 5 pm.
The inauguration of the programme will be done by Prof Gowri Kuppuswamy, retired professor of music, University of Mysore, Dr Halathi Somashekhar, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture will be the chief guest. Dr G L Hegde, and Prof K Ramamurthy Rao will be the guests of honour. Industrialist K V Murthy will preside over the function.

Aditya B Sagar, Uttam Raj, Nirmith Nithyanand, Nitin Vinayak, Somashekar, Pavan Simha, Salauddin S, Yogesh, Mohammed Imran, Manjesh, Muzamill Pasha, Abhishek, Karthik Raghavan, Srikarthik, Rohit Tiwari and Kuldip have been selected by the Mysore zone of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, Bangalore to represent it in the KSCA-under 19 tournament to be held in Bangalore from August 23.
Entrance exam
The MBA Common Entrance Test (CET) for the students who have applied for the MBA programme of Karnataka State Open University will be conducted on August 26. The exams will take place at Mysore, Bangalore, Dharwad, Mangalore and Gulbarga at the KSOU, Manaagangotri, Owsteen College, Bangalore, JSS Arts, Commerce and Science, Dharwad, University College campus, Hampanakatte, Mangalore and Jnanaganga, Gulbarga university respectively. Field Day
Labland Biotech Private Limited is organising Jatropha field day at Kateel, Mangalore on September 2 at 11 am. Dr V S Acharya, minister for medical education will participate in the programme as chief guest. Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple Chief Priest Lakshminarayana Asranna will be the guest of honour. An exhibition on the plant science of Jatropha, its cultivation and plantation management including the agronomic practices, disease managementand pre and post harvest management will also be organised on the occasion. Public meeting
Chamundeshwari constituency MLA Siddaramaiah is going to hold a public meeting at 10 am at Naidunagar, Irwin Nagar, Kesare 3rd stage, Bharat Nagar and Rajiv Nagar on August 23 and Eraganahalli, Allanahalli, Teachers’ colony, KHB Colony, Srinagar and Shaktinagar on August 24.

BJP Womens’ Wing is holding a ganahoma and Lakshmi puja on August 23 at Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashram, at 4 pm against the various ills affecting the country such as terrorism, floods among others. Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will participate.
