Minister for Higher Education D H Shankarmurthy said that on the background of satellite based education being successfull in Engineering Colleges, all those pre university colleges which have good infrastructure facilities will be provided with satellite education facilty.
Addressing a news conference in Udupi on Tuesday, he said that the programme has been started in several colleges on experimental basis and steps will be taken to extend the same to many more institutions. The programme is being implemented with the aim of providing quality education to students.
“It was decided to bring an amendment to conduct entrance examination for the admission of students to post graduate courses. But those who were elected from the teachers constituency opposed it irrespective of parties and hence the amendment was withdrawn. But in future the same amendment will be introduced by convincing those who opposed it,” he added.
Centres have been opened in Bangalore and Mysore University to support educational exchange programmes with foreign universities. This step has been taken to see to it that the benefits of globalisations are received by education sector too.
No confusion
“There is no confusion among BJP members at all pertaining to B S Yediyurappa becoming the chief minister. The government was formed after Mr Kumaraswamy and Mt Yediyurappa entered into an agreement 18 months ago,” Mr Shankarmurthy said calling Mr Yediyurappa the ‘undisputed candidate’ of BJP.
