Freedom that beckoned actor Sanjay Dutt after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail, remained elusive even on Tuesday. This happened, as legal documents for his release did not reach the local Yeravada jail.
The bail order, which was expected to be produced before TADA Court Judge Pramod Kode, had not been received in the jail by 5:30 pm on Tuesday, the conventional deadline for submission of release orders, prison sources said.
The bail order and the TADA Court’s directive to the jail authorities would be carried to Yeravada by Dutt’s lawyers and relatives.
The papers did not reach the jail before dusk on Tuesday. This implies that formalities regarding Dutt’s release could be completed only by Wednesday.
A crowd gathered in front of the jail. The police maintained strict security along the roads leading to the prison.
