A threat through an e-mail to blow up the Orissa assembly building prompted the state police to tighten the security in and around the important building here on Tuesday. The e-mail was received by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s office.
As soon as the CM’s office came to know about mail sent by Gagan Patnaik that the assembly building will be blown up within fifteen days with the help of a remote device, the Director General(DG) of state police, Amarananda Patnaik was immediately informed and a thorough check of the building was conducted.
However, nothing dangerous could be found during the search. “The e-mail could be a hoax. A thorough inquiry has already been ordered”, a senior official said, adding that the cyber crime cell of the police had been asked to ascertain the identity of the e-mail sender.
