Dr Mohammed Haneef was a relieved man when he heard the news that the Federal Court had restored his visa but the stay on its implementation by the prosecution worried him a bit.
“Though Haneef was happy about the court’s verdict, he was worried about the minister’s reaction. He’s wondering if this is going to be a long drawn legal battle,” Haneef’s cousin Imran Siddique told Deccan Herald.
Meanwhile Haneef’s lawyer Peter Russo on Tuesday called on Mr Andrews to abide by the Federal Court decision, to set aside the Minister’s cancellation of Haneef’s work visa.
He said that while the Minister had a right to appeal the decision to the full Federal Court, there was also an option for him to merely re-make the decision to deny Dr Haneef a work visa.
