C P Karthik and Poojitha scored contrasting wins to claim the boys and girls titles respectively in the youth category of the State-raking table tennis tournament at the Canara Union here on Tuesday.
Karthik dropped just one game en route to his submission of Akhil 11-8, 7-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-9 to clinch the title.
Karthik had more delight in store as the youngster won the men’s title as well.
Poojitha N had to overcome stiff resistance from Madhuri R. After splitting the first six game, Poojith won the decisive seventh game to have the last laugh with the scoreline reading 9-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6.
Meanwhile, Akhil and Madhuri triumphed in the junior category of the boys and girls section respectively.
While Akhil beat Navaneeth A R 9-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6, Madhuri R bt Nisarga N Poojari 12-10, 11-4, 15-13, 11-8.
HK Umesh had an easy outing against Prasad en route to his title victory in the venerans’ category. Umesh won 11-8, 11-8, 11-0.
