Vikram stars for Vivekananda
Vikram took five for 27 to help Vivekananda Union CC drub Merchants Cricket Club (1) by 47 runs in the KSCA league-cum-knockout tournament for Group I Division IV teams for the Metro Shield. After posting 220, Vivekananda bowled Merchants out for just 173.

Brief scores: Vivekananda Union Cricket Club: 220 all out in 43.2 overs (Ravi Prakash 39, Sucheel 46, Nagaraj 29, HD Javed 53; Raghav 3-36, Murali 2-58, Sharath 4-70) bt Merchants Cricket Club (1): 173 all out in 33.3 overs (Vinay 34, Manjunath Bhat 32, Vignesh Sharma 54; Shiv Dhat 3-75, Vikram 5-27).

Southern Cricketers: 241/9 in 50 overs (Manohar 45, Jeevan Kumar 31, Prakash 56; NR Pradeep 5-71, Iqbal Khan 3-28) lt to New National CC: 242/6 in 42.1 overs (Afroz Pasha 54, Syed Nasheed 84 n.o., JM Wajed Sharif 28, NR Pradeep 29; Vinay Iyer 2-16).

Young Pioneer CC: 214 all out in 49.2 overs (Sanjeev Kumar 31, Patrick Das 28, Sukvindar 26; Shiva Kumar 8-56) lt to Vivekanagar Cricketers: 218/4 in 40.4 overs (Paramanandan 88, Jagadish 58, Muthukrishnan 40; Prateek 2-27).

SAI ‘D’ to face Synergy in final
Pradhan Somanna struck a brace as SAI ‘D’ outclassed DBHA 3-0 to enter the final of the State ‘D’ division hockey league championship at the KSHA stadium on Tuesday. In the final, SAI ‘D’ will lock horns with Synergy Sports Club.

After Nayeemuddin opened the scoring in the 46th minute, Somanna scored in the 48th and 56th minutes as SAI ‘D’ scored thrice in the space of 10 minutes to top Pool ‘B’ and move into the title round.

In another Phase II quarterfinal league tie, Synergy scored four times without reply against Young Stars from Hubli. Three of Synergy’s four goals came from set-pieces. SK Uthappa converted penalty corners in the 15th and 40th minutes, Ratan Muthanna did likewise in the 30th and Umesh rounded off the scoring with a field goal in the 58th minute as Synergy topped Pool ‘A’ with three wins.

The day’s other match ended in a walkover for Kodava Samaja at the expense of ACE, Hosur. ACE could not assemble a full team because their players were busy with exams.

Bishop Cotton emerge champs
Bishop Cotton Girls School beat St Charles High School 17-6 to lift the U-16 basketball tournament conducted by the Kensri School.

Results: Girls (final): Bishop Cotton: 17 bt St Charles: 6.

Boys: Semifinals: Cathedral School: 46 bt Sri Vidya Mandir: 24; Kensri School: 32 bt Sri Vidya Mandir ‘A’: 27.
