CRICKET / BT Ramaiah inter-school tournament
Girija Shankar stars in easy Carmel win
Bangalore, DH News Service:

Girija Shankar made an unbeaten 105 and associated himself in an unseparated first-wicket association of 183 with Advith (65 n.o.) as Carmel High School, Padmanabhanagar crus-hed Cambridge Public School (HSR Layout) by ten wickets to make progress in the BT Ramaiah Shield inter-school (under-15) cricket tournament.

Cambridge made a respectable 181, batting first, KM Sachin playing the lead role whilst making 52. Sumanth was the most successful bowler for Carmel with four for 51, while Chethan picked up three for 30.

Carmel’s openers, however, made that total look miniscule as they raced to 183 in just 27.1 overs for the most commanding of victories.

Also on the winning side were Florence Public School, who defeated Green Lawns School by 24 runs in a high-scoring contest.

Half-centuries from T Chetan (68) and Uttam (69) propelled Florence to an impressive 285 all out. In response, Green Lawns reached 261 before being bowled out in the 45th over.

Basu top-scored with 72, but with Furkhan, Keerthi and Sandeep taking two wickets apiece, Green Lawn’s spirited chase fell just short as Basu didn’t get the requisite support from his team-mates.

Brief scores: Cambridge Public School (HSR Layout): 181 all out in 36.4 overs (KM Sachin 52; Sumanth 4-51, Chethan 3-30, Bhushan 2-4) lt to Carmel High School, Padmanbhanagar: 183/0 in 27.1 overs (Girija Shankar 105 n.o., Advith 65 n.o.).

Prasiddhi School: 98 all out in 31.1 overs (Chowdry 2-13, Sourabh 2-10) lt to BGS International Residential School: 99/2 in 14.1 overs (Vivek Niranjan 40, Haran 37).

Florence Public School: 285 all out in 43.5 overs (T Chetan 68, Uttam 69; Abilash 3-32) bt Green Lawns School: 261 all out in 44.4 overs (Abilash 34, Mujamil 27, Basu 72, Atish 46; Furkhan 2-36, Keerthi 2-48, Sandeep 2-21).

Vijaya High School: 172 all out in 37.3 overs (Ashwin 49; Rajath 2-28, Akshay 3-41, Akshay N Kumar 3-29) lt to Cathedral High School: 173/4 in 30.2 overs (Siddarth 25, Akshay 25).

Sri Aurobindo Memorial School (Central): 201 all out in 44.5 overs (Meru J Yale 63, Rahul Bharadwaj 38, Sir Shah 26; Anoop 2-26, Rahul H 2-19, Mouli 2-37) bt Bethany School: 140 all out in 37.1 overs (V Nikhil 44; Rahul Bhardwaj 2-20, Nikhil 2-22, Likith 2-29).
