Police raided a house in Koppa on Monday night and arrested three persons allegedly invovled in the robbery of 36 kg gold at Chemmanur Jewellers in Bangalore.
One more person escaped during the raid.
Of the 10 teams formed to crack the robbery case, the Koppa police team, raided a house, belonging to Felix D’ Souza and arrested Hema (30), Nandish (24) and Balakrishna (40).
But Gopala Shetty escaped from the back door.
The team, led by Cirlce Inspector Nagaraj, was tracking them for the last one week.
Hema of Brahmavar, with her son Akash and two relatives, had come to Koppa three months ago and was living in a house belonging to GP member Sharada Vittal, on rent. They had shifted to another house on SVT Road three days ago. Hema is said to have told the owners that her husband had planned to close the hotel he was running in Mumbai and settle down in Koppa. She had admitted Akash to 6th standard in Venkateshwara Vidyamandira and was also learning car driving.
Four youths had been visiting the house in a car and staying till midnight. It is learnt that Hema used to mislead others by giving wrong information about her ‘relatives’.
Gopal, whom she introduced as her brother, did not know Kannada and spoke only Hindi. It was also said that he used to visit Bangalore frequently on his bike. It is learnt that the same gang were involved in Rs 10 lakh robbery case in Belgaum and another robbery reported in Bhatkal.
However, Bangalore city police commissioner N Achutha Rao is not only confident of cracking the case but also recovering the entire property.
On Monday Mangalore police had arrested Umesh Shetty.
