As many as 173 legislators from the State are leaving to China on a 15-day study tour in four different teams on August 22 and 27.
Of the 173 legislators, 124 are members of the legislative assembly and 49 are members of the legislative council.
Seventeen others, three to four officials of the legislature secretariate and the government and a journalist of a Kannada newspaper, are accompanying the each team.
Though there are 300 legislators - 225 MLAs and 75 MLC - only 173 members have shown interest in visiting China as the remaining 127 have already visited China on different occasions.
The Travel Corporation of India, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of travel and stay of the legislators, has booked the tickets in Singapore airlines to carry the legislators to China via Singapore.
The legislators will be visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Xi’an cities during their tour.
The State government is spending about Rs 3 crore (approximately Rs 1.6 lakh per person) for the legislators’ tour, which has been organised as per the desire of Assembly Speaker Krishna to educate the legislators about China’s progress.
