Nanotechnology park to be set up near Jakkur
Bangalore, DHNS:

A state-of-the-art Nanotechnogy Park will be set up on a 15-acre plot near Jakkur on the outskirts of the City, according to Minister for Science and Technology Ramachandra Gowda.
Speaking to media persons in Bangalore on Tuesday, Mr Gowda said that park will be set up under the guidance of noted scientist C N R Rao.
IT and BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said that the State government had sought an assistance of Rs 100 crore from the Centre.
He said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will launch the logo of Nanopark at a function on Wednesday. The minister said that 100 acre land had been acquired for setting up Science City on Bannerghatta Road. The City would be set up at a cost of Rs 75 crore, which would be equally shared by both - State and Centre.
Moreover, Regional Science Centres would be set up at Dharwad and Mangalore and a Sub-Divisional Science Centre at Kodagu. A sum of Rs 3.5 crore had already been released by the State and a similar grant from the Centre was awaited.
Former ISRO Chairman U R Rao, who was also present at the press conference, said that the State government proposed to set up Technology Business Incubators in all the districts in the State. The first such incubator would be set up at Bijapur shortly. “Involving Awake, an NGO, we want to identify the strength of a district and provide technological know-how for setting up industries in that area. The NGO will also identify suitable persons and train them,” he added.
Stating that country was lagging behind in agriculture, Prof Rao said productivity has to improve a lot.” The NABARD wants to extend loans without collateral security to those who want to set up industries,” he added.
