Protect old bridge
Giving the excuse of modernisation works in Bhadra canal, heavy vehicles, carrying materials weighing over 25-30 tonnes are passing on the old bridge near Jambadahalla to reach their destinations. The bridge is the oldest in the taluk, with a history of about 150 years. Due to heavy traffic, the Tarikere-Lakkavalli roads are facing dangers.
Since there are other routes available for the heavy vehicles, they should be stopped from using the monumental bridge, said progressive farmer H B Srikantamurthy.
