‘Janapada Sanje’ a cultural programme was organised in Hunasehalli village, situated in the border area of Sira taluk.
The programme was organised together by the Taluk Kalavidara Okkuta and Kannada and Culture department.
State award winner and senior Janapada artist Kalamarahalli Eerabadeppa presided over the function. Member of the Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy Dr Chickkannayannekatte inaugurated the event.
True ambassadors
Speaking on the occasion, he said, janapada artists were the true ambassadors of village culture. They were representatives of unity, harmony and brotherhood. Honouring the talented artists is in itself the first step towards honouring our culture.
It was time, the real artists were noted, awarded and even a regular pension should be provided to them. The Government should think in these terms, he added.
SDMC Chairman Hanumanthraju, President of the Taluk Kalavidara Sangha Hunasehalli Rajanna and others were present on the occasion. More than a hundred artists took part in the cultural events. Teacher T Mahaswamy compered the event and Rajanna proposed a vote of thanks.
Inaugurated
On the occasion of his birthday, MLA B Satyanarayan inaugurated a public drinking unit at a private bus stand.
The unit has been constructed by his followers, for the benefit of the public.
Former presidents of the Town Municipal Council R Ramu, R Raghavendra, B K Manjunath, PLD Bank Chairman Bombay Rajanna, TMC president Nalawadi, Zilla Panchayat member Mudimadu Rangaswamy and various other members were present on the occasion.
