TUMKUR BRIEFS

Trips to Mekedaatu
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has organised a special tour package to Jog Falls, for the benefit of the general public. Now, it has also included Mekedaatu and Bharachukki into the special tour packages.
On August 26, a one-day special tour package has been announced from Tumkur to Mekedaatu and Bharachukki, informed Divisional Managing Director of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation G G Hegde.
The special bus will be leaving Tumkur at 5 am and return back by 9 pm.

LIC office shifted
The office of the Life Insurance Corporation of India of Tumkur branch (2), will be shifted to new premises on August 27, to the new building.
The new office would start functioning on the second floor of the Siddaganga Mutt commercial complex, on B H Road, according to a press release issued by the Senior Branch Officer of the LIC K Shrinivasan.
The office is currently functioning from J C Road. The manager has requested the public to make note of this change.
Award for Dr Satyanarayan
Indian Psychiatric Society has conferred the popular “Dr S S Jayaram” award on noted psychiatrist of Tumkur Dr M T Satyanarayan, for this year.
The award is conferred in recognition to the services of Dr Satyanarayan, in the field of Psychology, for creating awareness among the public and also for authoring several books related to this field.
Dr Satyanarayan is serving as the chairman of the Psychology department of the Siddharth Medical College.
Apart from his services, his book, “Adhyayana Koushala,” has also been considered for the award.
The award will be presented to Dr Satyanarayan on August 25, at a programme to be held in J N Medical College in Belgaum, according to a press release issued by the Secretary of the Society Dr H Chandrashekhar, here on Wednesday.
